Do you celebrate Easter? How did you enjoy Easter festivities? It was quiet at my abode, but i ensured a cake order to mark the day and make the atmosphere a little celebratory.

The cakes came from Havilah Favors HF in Baltimore. I had ordered their Sweet Potato + Brown Butter cupcakes in the past that blew me away, after i returned from Brown Butter heaven, i decided to try them again.

The biggest thing i LOVE about HF is that they customize the cakes to your taste plus they use ALL NATURAL ingredients. No Additives or preservatives. I ordered Carrot cakes with 1/2 the normal amount of sugar, 6 frosted and 6 naked.

The cakes looked and smelled amazing! I liked the sprinkling of grated carrots on top of the frosting + the windowed white box they came in. Chic and pretty presentation. Appearance = 25

Thankfully the cakes were not too sweet. I do not like desserts that taste like sugar. Dessert should be sweet NOT sugary.  HF spice mix was rich and delightful. It felt like fall in spring. The nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, all came through. The frosting was too sweet for me. i removed it. Taste = 20

The cake was rich and moist. The morning after (the cakes came in on saturday), we had the naked cakes for breakfast.  They still felt moist and held together well. I do not handle crumbly cake well. This cake held together well. Texture = 20

I was expecting a good amount of carrots in each forkful. I got that and much more. The burst of raisins and currants was a welcome surprise. I really enjoyed this cake and will order it again. Description vs Reality = 25

This cake was a sweet way to celebrate our easter.  HF’s service was very good too. The cakes were ready and packed when i got there. HF themselves (A cute Hubby + Wife team) are such warm and nice folks.
